Watch news : Marnaut presents the seascape at Kickstarter

Less than a year ago, we were reviewing the brand’s first model. Marnaut : The Dark Surge 300. A micro-brand founded by Croatian Mario Jutronic who had decided to embark on the watchmaking adventure thanks to crowdfunding in Kickstarter. On the occasion of the launch of the Marine, Marnaut decided to retry the experience on the American platform. And in just a few days, the initial objective of financing the project was achieved.

Despite his young age, Marnaut has a very special identity. In fact, its founder decided to make his experience of sea urchin hunt The DNA of your brand. An identity that permeates the aesthetics of Dark Surge and Seascape and that makes Marnaut a particularly original brand. Therefore, we found a form of stainless steel case supercompressor water resistant to 20 ATM, which will allow prolonged dives in the bottle. The rotating bezel is integrated under the glass and can be adjusted with a crown screwed at 2 o’clock. the two crowns They are relatively large, which makes it easy to set the time and adjust the internal bezel. The complete case alternates between a circular and horizontal brushed finish, which accentuates the look of the tool’s clock. On the back, there is the brand logo engraved on the bottom of the box. The seascape is available in 3 models : steel case with black internal frame, one version with white internal frame and then another with black PVD treated box.

Like the Dark Surge, the Seascape has a black enamel dial covered with an index that remembers the sea urchin shell. It is this dial that made the success of the young brand. The seascape therefore has 34 indices arranged in concentric circles while the needles are in the form of sticks with a second-hand arrow. To ensure readability underwater, Marnaut chose to cover the hands, the indexes of the inner bezel and the 34 indices scattered on the dial, Superluminova BGW9. Therefore, the set produces, at nightfall, a captivating effect with bluish hues. The brand logo is indicated soberly at 12 o’clock with the words Seascape and “200M” and at 6 o’clock is the “automatic” inscription on two overlapping parts to leave more space for the indexes. The watch has a double domed sapphire crystal that further accentuates the effect of depth. Everything is very successful!

For this new seascape, Marnaut has chosen the Miyota 9015 that already fit the Dark Surge. It is the Japanese competitor of ETA 2824-2, an oscillating movement at 28 ″ 800 A / h that offers an accuracy of -10 / + 30 seconds per day. The clock at rest will work for approximately 42 hours. On the side of the strap, Marnaut offers to deliver the watch with two straps: a silicone, to take full advantage of the watch’s water resistance, then an Italian crocodile-style leather strap for the city.

On the occasion of the launch of this new model, the Seascape, the brand seems to have met the expectations of its fans since it has doubled its goal in Kickstarter. This newcomer takes up the main aesthetic characteristics that made the success of the first campaign and adds the interesting specifications of the supercompressor. TO only € 250 for the steel versions and € 270 for the PVD-treated version (for pre-order), the Seascape is very well positioned in view of its technical data sheet. It is an original and well designed watch at a very low price that will delight lovers of diving watches.
