MeisterSinger is a brand that we know well and that we love very much. After reviewing the Neo and the first German-made diver, the Salthora Meta X, we spent a day with a limited edition of 50 copies specially designed by MEISTERSINGER for France
MeisterSinger: the German needle
If you’ve never seen a MeisterSinger before at your dealership, it’s time to leave your cave! East german manufacturing It has built a solid reputation in the watch industry in less than 20 years. Founded in Münster, in northern Germany, in 2001 by professional designer Manfred Brassler, MeisterSinger made a decision that made the difference from the beginning: produce one hand watches. The general idea was to show that the most important thing is to have a general idea of time, not to become obsessed with every second. While being precise about the mechanics of watchmaking, MeisterSinger watches are easy to read thanks to their large and avant-garde needle aligned with indexes designed to offer the best possible clarity. And since 2014, the brand has also developed its own manufactures gauges, mechanical or automatic, offers 5 days of power reserve thanks to a mounting with 2 barrels. Proof that she also has real experience.
A limited edition of 50 copies.
Based on the Pangea Date model, the clock we are interested in today was produced exclusively for MeisterSinger partners in France, A first. Its particularity lies in its sphere color, a unique blue lagoon in the catalog of Germanic manufacturing. A French touch that will delight the most chauvinists! Only 50 numbered pieces They are available, so if you are looking for something unique, you will wear a watch that you will barely see on someone’s wrist. La Pangea is the most Elegant of the model of a hand, but also the most popular of MeisterSinger, with a dial whose design is inspired by historical instruments, in particular the first pocket watches, with the most objective style possible. It is a timeless classic.
Like the Pangea Date, this limited edition sports a stainless steel case with a polished finish throughout the watch for an elegant look. This box measures 40 mm wide (without crown) 47 mm long horn to horn for a 11.5 mm thick. Perfect dimensions for all male dolls with a convex design in the middle that, together with the rounded bezel, shows beautiful curves while reducing its profile. Its crown is relatively wide (6.5 mm), a good thing because it greatly facilitates its handling (an aspect that many brands neglect for their city models). Not surprisingly, the set is surpassed by a slightly curved sapphire crystal then equipped with a Transparent background fixed by 6 screws, limiting its water resistance to 50 meters (5ATM).
Let’s take a closer look at her “blue lagoon” dial. Again, it is a unique MeisterSinger color and is currently only available for France. Its sunrays finish creates beautiful reflections, but it is because of its degraded from midnight blue at the edges of the dial to navy blue in the center, as this background stands out. The hour markers, glued, are polished, which accentuates the effects of light, as is the beveled edge of the round date window placed at 6 o’clock. Also note that the date disc is also blue to be in harmony with the bottom of the dial. The other brands are white, which creates a great contrast. Along with relatively long indexes and a needle that attracts the eye to its point that protrudes from the stick indexes, the readability is perfect.
When we turn the clock, we discover that automatic movement equipped with a beautiful oscillating mass, curly and with golden sunbeams in the name and emblem of MeisterSinger. You may have recognized this movement: it is a Sellita SW200-1. This Swiss caliber developed and manufactured in La Chaux-de-Fonds oscillates at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4Hz) and offers 38 hours power reserve. In view of its finishes, we would say that it is a special finish, the equivalent of ETA 2824 Elaboré, which would give it a daily deviation of – / + 7 seconds.
Last piece of the puzzle: the bracelet. This is in “vintage” leather made in Germany by hand. Brown in the front and back, it has a fluted finish that gives it an aged effect, as well as cream-colored stitching at the ends, then it is mounted on a buckle marked with the brand’s crescent (which symbolizes – with the round – the point d organ in musical notation). It is a thick bracelet and, therefore, rigid, but that will soften quickly, measures 20 mm in the center and narrows 17 mm towards the buckle. To conclude, with this limited edition of 50 copies for France, MeisterSinger is not at risk, but quite the opposite: it offers its sales success on a dial that fits perfectly in the trend (blue and gradient) with numbered squares. In short, these clocks will certainly go quickly. To get one, you still have to pay € 1,950.
