Seiko recently announced the imminent arrival of a new limited edition Astron GPS Solar. This beautiful demolition is aimed at athletes and travelers alike, and pays tribute to the skill of tennis player Novak Djokovic, partner of the brand since 2014.
The Serbian champion has shared his victories with the watchmaker for almost 6 years. Seiko. To pay tribute to him and illustrate this beautiful collaboration, the Japanese brand has created a symbolic clock that combines the colors of Japan and Serbia. In fact, theAstron GPS Solar Djokovic adorns its stainless steel structure with red and white, two colors found in the Serbian and Japanese flags. To this is added an excellent deep blue tone, present in the Serbian flag and symbol of victory in the culture of the Land of the Rising Sun. These chromatic choices are essential, make it possible to remember the union of the brand and the athlete, but also his love for his respective nation.
The 42.7 mm housing of the Astron GPS Solar Djokovic is topped by a UTC bezel at +1 and +9 hours in blue ceramic with a thin red border. The dial, also blue, is surrounded by a white bezel to which large applied indexes are added for better readability of the time. A date window slides between 4 and 5h. The dial also incorporates three additional counters, including gold hands for the dual time zone function. Because yes, even with the idea of joining Serbia and Japan, this clock indicates the time zones of these two countries. The choice of gold is a nod to Novak’s many exploits on tennis courts.
The set is protected by a domed sapphire crystal with Super-Clear treatment. The back of the box is engraved with the signature of Djokovic and has a unique number, since it is a limited edition.
Now we are going to the heart of this new Astron GPS Solar! It is animated by a caliber 5X53 Dual-Time Solar GPS that connects twice a day to the GPS network. It allows the automatic change to daylight saving time, but also an easy and fast adjustment of the time zone simply by pressing one of the buttons, as well as an instantaneous change between the main reference and that of the local time zone.
The watch offers a 12-hour AM / PM display. It has a perpetual calendar scheduled until February 2100, a world time function (39 time zones) and an energy saving function.
