Everyone knows the iconic Stan Smith, a basketball tennis line produced by the Adidas brand, a timeless one that slips on all feet. From the world of footwear to watchmaking, there is only one step, at least that’s what you might think with the launch of a watch. Stan Smith Signature imagined by Maurice de Mauriac.
The watch brand recently collaborated with Stan smith Imagine a clock in honor of the 100 victories of the famous American tennis player Stanley Smith, whose name was used to change the name of the famous sneakers. And this is Daniel Dreifuss, watchmaker of Maurice de Mauriac, who is behind the project. I wanted to design a mechanical watch that could be worn on the floor while retaining the relaxed look of the Stan Smith’s 70s.
Outcome? A watch that is elegant and sporty, completely in the current trend, proudly displaying its two-tone dress. the Stan Smith Signature watch It shows a green and white Nato bracelet attached to a 42 mm 316L stainless steel case. In the white dial, there are no numbers, but finely drawn round indexes and a railroad in black sticks. A discrete white date window is placed every 3 hours. The second hand is adorned with the same green tone as the bracelet, just like the clock signature at 6 o’clock. A green reminiscent of the world of tennis and a signature that is, in fact, that of the famous player. The set is aesthetic, clear, balanced, with a very design aspect.
On the motor side, this watch works with an ETA 2824-2 caliber of 25 rubies, with 28,800 A / h and 38 hours of power reserve. It is a relatively water resistant watch, capable of withstanding water of up to 100 m or 10 ATM.
the Stan Smith Signature watch it will soon be available in two other colors, namely red / white and blue / white, as for the sneakers in which it is inspired. Each version will be available in a limited quantity of 100 copies. A very precise figure that refers to Smith’s 39 singles wins and his 61 doubles wins, for a total of 100 wins.
The watch is currently available for pre-order and will be delivered in February. It will be placed in a beautiful box, accompanied by an additional perforated black rubber strap with green seams, a matching keychain with the NATO strap and a tennis ball signed by Stanley Smith.
